Another half term has flown by and we seem to have done so much at NRCS it seems incredible that we have fit everything in! Some of our Post-16 children went on a residential, practicing for taking their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award – this trip was led by Sue Kenny, our D of E Lead Practitioner who reported how well the students did. They were lucky with the weather, which has also enabled all teachers to deliver learning classrooms outside as much as possible – some children have been accessing Forest School lessons and this will continue to the end of this term. The Post-16 residential to Kingswood was enjoyed by all – thanks to all the staff, led by Jill Chiddey, who made this trip so successful. The Secondary team took their students to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park for culture and to enjoy art in the outdoors. Thanks to all the secondary team for making sure that parents could share the day through the super photos they took.
British Values are important to us and it was with pleasure and enthusiasm that the whole school celebrated the Royal Wedding! We had our very own ‘wedding’ and the bride, groom, bridesmaids and page boys looked wonderful – as did the proud ‘father of the bride’ as he walked down the aisle. After the ceremony, we were all able to join the couple dancing (after they started their ‘first dance’) and the celebrations went on into the afternoon with ‘street parties’.
We are constantly driving safeguarding agendas and our latest information on how you, as parent and carers can support on-line protection of your children has been sent out to you with the E- Safety information letter, recently. We hope that you find this useful.
We like to know if we are getting things right or if we can improve on our practice and so thank you all for contributing to our parent voice requests. We also carried out staff and pupil voice information finding and will be responding to observations through improving practice over the next term.
Please keep looking at our website – we are constantly updating class and curriculum information with photos so please keep checking. Finally, please keep in contact with us – your contribution to supporting us in getting education right for your child or children is valuable and important to us.
Have a lovely half term and we look forward to seeing you at our parent drop-ins that are starting the first week back after half term.
