Harmony House offers two adapted semi-detached houses with a wide range of facilities to support independent living for disabled children and young people.
House 1 is adapted for young people with physical disabilities and House 2 is adapted for young people with social, emotional and behavioural disabilities.
Harmony House offers a large outside grassed/decked area incorporating a children's play area. The play area has been designed for use by children with special educational needs and disabilities. The garden is a shared area with access from both houses.
It is envisaged that Harmony House will provide a place where young people can socialise and experience independent living on a daily basis and through overnight stop-overs, to provide them with the opportunity to experience the confidence independence gives whilst in a safe and secure home from home environment.
The house is situated in a residential community with access to large playing fields, parks and the local Community Woodlands offering plenty to do in the area.
Harmony House is available for a variety of services including;
Supporting the Curriculum
Harmony House provides support to the curriculum for children and young adults aged 3 - 19 and is available for schools and agencies to deliver a comprehensive life skills programme in a 'home style' setting. Children will be able to learn domestic skills such as washing, ironing, cleaning windows etc. plus there are facilities to make snacks and meals.
The garden itself provides the resources required for aspects of the Environmental Science curriculum by using the raised beds, the greenhouse, garden equipment and the outdoor workshop. All courses can be accredited either individually or in groups.
Please contact North Ridge Community School if you require any further information or advice on qualifications or the accreditation routes available.
A massive thanks to all staff who helped to make our Valentine's Disco such a huge success. The children had a fantastic time and looked great in their best dancing clothes!
School would like to send a great big THANK YOU to Ikea for their continuing support in supplying us with their surplus equipment. Please find below letters sent out to parents.
